イベント報告番外編＠チャランケ祭り

昨日は１ヶ月遅れでチャランケ祭りが開催されました。

といっても、とても小規模で無観客。

来年にチャランケ祭りの火を繋ぐという意味合いで今回の開催が決定しました。

来年は通常開催が出来ることを祈って、アレックスからイベント報告です。

Charanke Matsuri

​​Yesterday, I participated in the annual Charanke Matsuri. This festival is held every year in November, but this year, due to coronavirus, it was held at a reduced scale. Normally, members of the public are allowed to come and watch, but this year it was restricted to participants.

​​Charanke Matsuri is a celebration of both Ainu and Okinawan culture. At first this seemed strange to me, since Okinawa and Hokkaido are so far apart; however, both the Ainu and Okinawan people descend from the Jomon people, so in a sense they have a common heritage.

​​The matsuri begins with a re-enactment of an ancient ritual called “kamuy-nomi”, followed by martial arts demonstrations, singing, and hatagashira-lifting. This year there weren’t enough people to lift the hatagashira, but we erected it anyway.

​​Mizuno-san showed off his Bo-Jutsu; I participated by beating a shime-daiko.

​​I’m glad they held Charanke Matsuri this year, in spite of the Coronavirus situation; and I hope that next year it can be held as normal.

チャランケ祭り

昨日、私は毎年恒例のチャランケ祭りに参加しました。 この祭りは毎年11月に開催されていますが、今年はコロナウイルスの影響で規模を縮小して開催されました。 例年はたくさんのお客様が来場されますが、今年は参加者のみで行われました。

チャランケ祭りはアイヌと沖縄の文化の両方を祝う祭りです。 沖縄と北海道は遠いので、最初は不思議に思いましたが、アイヌ人も沖縄人も縄文人の子孫なので、ある意味共通の遺産を持っているといえます。

祭りは｢カムイノミ｣と呼ばれる古代の儀式を再現することから始まり、続いて武道の実演、歌、旗揚げ(はたがしら)が行われます。 今年は実際に旗頭を持ち上げるだけの人がいないため、会場に旗頭を立てるだけでした。

水野さんは棒術を披露しました。私は演武に合わせしめ太鼓をたたいて参加しました。

コロナウイルスの状況にもかかわらず、小規模ですがチャランケ祭りが開催されてうれしいです。来年は通常通り開催されることを願っています。
